The renowned journalist and active socialist Govindlal Vora understood the significance of maintaining social presence and valued his relations. The former chief minister Dr. Raman Singh along with Brijmohan Agarwal and Amar Agarwal once cancelled his pre-scheduled meeting to attend the intimate family function of the grandson Vyom Vora at Gonvindlal Vora’s residence. Govindlal Vora and his elder brother Motilal Vora welcomed the guests and ensured great hospitality.

Being the esteemed journalist, Govindlal Vora had numerous connections and was aware of political ongoings of the state. He maintained healthy social and political relations. Even his wife Prakash Vora was equally active and supported his social engagements.

The passing away of Govindlal Vora last away was a loss to the society of journalism and left void in the lives of his family, friends and connections.

However, the passionate journalist found his peace of mind and clarity of thoughts after being introduced to the Brahma Kumaris foundation.

The vision and living principles of the Brahma Kumaris deeply influenced the thoughts and path of Gonvindlal Vora. Often times he used to stay for days at Brahma Kumaris establishment. He indulged in the spiritual debates and exchanged thoughts about societal conditions & the ways to improve it. He believed that serving others was the true purpose of life which resonated with the Brahma Kumaris teachings. Govindlal Vora identifies and explored the spiritual side of his personality after being associated with the Brahma Kumaris.

Be it Shanti Sarovar in Chhattisgarh or Mount Abu in Rajasthan, he was regular and dedicated visitor at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University. The Divine Sister BK Kamala ji was aware of this spiritual side of Govindlal Vora and hence she would often seek his advice. Even his wife Prakash Vora accompanied him in his spiritual journey and was often found by his side during his visits to Brahma Kumaris.

Govindlal Vora became such an integral part of the Brahma Kumaris movement that he was even invited to lay the foundation of one of the Brahma Kumaris University in Chhattisgarh. He was close to the BK leader Dadi Janaki and used to seek her blessings & counsel before choosing any new path.

The gem of journalism, Govindlal Vora was surely passionate about writing and member of many societies working for betterment of human race, but Brahma Kumaris teachings were an integral part of his life. He left the world with a better spiritual legacy.

Considered as the Godfather of Indian journalism, Govindlal Vora passed away in year 2018 after suffering from Pneumonia and breathing-related problems. The passion for writing and vision for working towards social upliftment, encouraged him to highlight the true picture of the society. His contributions to the journalism are immeasurable.

Govindlal Vora was the driving force behind the foundation of Raipur Press Club. He believed that the young journalists needed to develop strong principles and should adopt an honest approach in covering any news, issue or event. He wanted the journalists to meet and discuss new ideas to empower the national journalism. He even held the position of Director of the Raipur Press Club.

Nothing stayed untouched by Govindlal Vora. He was the Director of the Chhattisgarh Hindi Literature Convention. He also encouraged the foundation of the press community at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University. In parallel, he stayed an active member in many social institutions like ’Gram Seva Samiti’ and ‘Krishi Gaurakshini’ which operated on the principles and visions of Mahatma Gandhi.

It will not be overstatement to say that every aspect of society was touched and improved by Govindlal Vora. He was a gem and his contributions towards journalism and society are transcendental.

Philanthropic Endeavors of Fearless Journalist

While the veteran journalist Govindlal Vora is known for his fearless and unbiased journalism, his integral personality was of a philanthropist. The quality and success of his journalism was the result of his urge to work to towards the betterment of society and upliftment of the human race, along with his passion for writing.

Before leaving this world in 2018, Govindlal Vora actively and dedicatedly participated in every endeavor working for the social causes. Apart from the social institutions, he was an esteemed lifetime member of the Rotary International Club. Apart from being the District Governor, he held many positions of power in the Rotary Club.

Being associated with Rotary Club presented Govindlal Vora with the opportunity of taking the American Tour where he was accompanied by his wife Prakash Vora. He met several international dignitaries and discussed the national issues along with the plausible solutions & approaches to be undertaken to address them and improve the standard of living.

Govindlal Vora took numerous initiatives, as a distinguished member of the Rotary Club, to enhance the literacy rate, improve the employment opportunities and providing better living conditions to the deprived sections of the society. He conducted and addressed many Rotary Club conferences Raipur and Jabalpur.

As he was an unbiased and fearless journalist, Govindlal Vora never shied away from addressing the issues and openly put forward his ideas & solutions. He provided his undivided attention to social and philanthropic work as a member of the Rotary Club. His contributions are remembered till this day by the common populace. He ruled the hearts of people.
